Happy World Book Night (WBN) day! As I did last year I'll be giving away books kindly donated by authors and publishers to those who aren't avid readers or perhaps cannot afford to be. I'm psyched to be giving away books again and wanted to give a heads up that I'll be at the location of the now closed Hue-Man Bookstore between 125th and 124th Streets on Frederick Douglass Blvd after 1pm. I'll be giving out books until they're all gone, which may be quick. And, I'll be wearing a sky blue Book Giver t-shirt to make me extra official.:-)
This year I'm giving away Esmeralda Santiago's memoir When I was Puerto Rican, which I am very excited about.
If you can't make it to Harlem then be on the look out for Givers all over the US and not just in New York City. People will be tweeting using the hashtags #WorldBookNight #WBN2014 #WBNAmerica and so on. And there'll be cool events pre-giving on April 22nd around the US as well.
If you'd like to learn more about WBN and mark your calendar to be a potential Giver next year sign up for updates from their site or "like" WBN on Facebook. They're a great group of people and this is a great day to celebrate books and those who love them.
